Why We Need Your Help

There are many reasons that fundraising is a high priority for our operation, and the issue of ambulance funding is complex and multi-factorial. We are more than happy to answer any questions you may have, but below are a few points to briefly summarize why we solicit donations.

  • The cost of ambulances and required medical equipment has nearly doubled in the last 5 years

  • Due to inflation, we have been forced to give substantial pay raises so that our valuable employees can continue working for us and are not forced to seek employment at higher paying agencies

  • Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement rates have not risen to match inflation and rising costs, and there is no sign of them increasing anytime soon.

  • We strive to keep our billing rates as low as possible so that calling an ambulance does not cause undue financial hardship. Donations help us to avoid rate increases.

  • While we do receive some tax funding, we make every effort to minimize our impact on tax payers and support our budgetary needs through all other means first, which includes fundraising efforts.

100% of all donations received directly support our mission to provide the highest quality emergency medical care to the Town and Village of Le Roy, New York. Le Roy Ambulance Service is a not-for-profit charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Gifts are tax deductible as provided in Section 170(b)1(A) and listed in the IRS Registry.

Other ways to support us

We completely understand that for many people, immediate financial contributions may not be possible. Below are a list of other ways that you can support our organization if you still want to help.

  • Opportunities exist to name LeRoy Ambulance Service, Inc. as a beneficiary in your will, and several people have supported us in this manner through the years. Please contact your attorney or financial advisor if this interests you.

  • Donations of volunteer labor are always appreciated, and we always have a long list of facility maintenance and upgrades that we are trying to keep up with. These tasks can be as simple as picking up leaves, painting, and cleaning or as complex as electrical/plumbing work. For some tasks, we may require you to be a licensed/insured professional Every dollar saved on property maintenance is a dollar that we can put toward emergency medical response.   • Host a fundraiser! Notable recent examples are the “Makin’ it Happen” fundraiser that was sponsored by Scofield Recycling and Bubba’s Landscaping, and the VIP K9 + Empire Realty Dog Calendar.
