911 Emergency Response

Here at Le Roy Ambulance Service, our primary mission is to provide 9-1-1 emergency medical response to the Town and Village of Le Roy, New York. To achieve this, we staff one Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance 24/7/365. In addition to this we staff an ALS First Response SUV (flycar) Monday - Friday from 8am - 4pm to help cover our highest call volume time periods. We are proud to participate in the Genesee County Mutual Aid Plan, which allows us to work with neighboring communities to share our resources in times of need - this means that on occasion, we will response into other towns or regions to assist, and in return their EMS units will respond into Le Roy to cover calls if we are unavailable or need extra help. When a resident of Genesee County calls 9-1-1, they are connected to a dispatcher who is employed by the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, who will ask a series of questions before sending the most appropriate EMS unit(s) based on the location and nature of the emergency.

Basic Life Support
Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation of emergency medical services (EMS) and plays a crucial role in saving lives. BLS encompasses a range of essential skills that EMS providers utilize when responding to medical emergencies. These skills include cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), airway management, bleeding control, and defibrillation. BLS providers are trained to quickly assess and manage life-threatening situations, providing vital support to patients in need. Through effective BLS techniques, EMS professionals are able to stabilize patients, maintain oxygenation, and prevent further deterioration until advanced medical care is available.

Advanced Life Support
Advanced Life Support (ALS) is a critical component of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), providing advanced medical interventions and care beyond basic life support. Prehospital ALS is performed by Paramedics and AEMTs, who are equipped with the knowledge and skills to administer a wide range of invasive and advanced procedures to deliver immediate and necessary medical interventions in emergency situations. These highly trained professionals have the capability to administer medications, perform advanced airway management, and initiate intravenous therapy to stabilize patients in critical conditions. ALS plays a crucial role in effectively managing and treating life-threatening emergencies, such as cardiac arrests, severe trauma, respiratory distress, and neurological emergencies. The expert care provided through ALS significantly improves patient outcomes and enhances the chances of survival, making it an invaluable resource to have right here in LeRoy.
